Tim to captain NZ 4x400m team to Japan

Next Wednesday Tim Hawkes leaves for Japan as the captain of the NZ 4x400m team competing at the IAAF Grand Prix meet in Osaka, Japan.

Tim (20) joined Valleys at the start of last winter. In his short running career he has posted some impressive results.

Represented NZ at 2002 World Juniors in Jamaica (but pulled a hamstring 4 days before his race)
Represented NZ at 2002 Oceania Champs - won Triple Jump
Won senior 400m, senior and U20 Triple Jump, U20 4x400m at the National Track & Field Champs in Dunedin, March 2003.
Part of the Valleys U20 4 man team that came 3rd at NZ Road Champs in Napier 2002.

Tim is also hoping to represent NZ at the World Student Games this year in Daegu, Korea.
