31/07/03.

Hi Everyone,
I've been here for a couple of weeks now and had a few races. Training has been going well and I can definitely feel the benefits of training in the heat.
The races I have had have all been against no one of my standard, except for a 100 in which I was left in the blocks after a false start that wasn't called. I came out and ended up running 11.48.
Generally I have been a little disappointed with my results but they are starting to come right now. I guess that justifies coming here early to get some extra races in rather than heading into World Universities with only a couple of races under my belt.
I have run 2 400's. The first was 2 days after I arrived and was just a hit out to get the legs going. I was still disappointed to only run 49.49 though. The second was last night in cold conditions (even by Wellington standards!). I ran a good first 200 but tightened up more than usual in the last 50 and came home in 48.80 seconds. I was pleased given the conditions and the fact that second place was well back in 54 seconds so I didn't see anyone after the first 50m. Last summer I was only running low 48s before breaking through to 46.86 when I peaked so I believe I am on track for a good result in 4 weeks time.
Here's a list of all my results so far, I feel as though I have been getting better each race which is positive.

As for the next couple of weeks, I plan on running 400s on the 10th and either the 11th or 13th, and shorter races on the 4th and 17th, ahead of the World University Games from the 21-31st. The rest of the New Zealand team arrives on the 7th.
Although most of my time is spent training or racing, I have had time to go to Dreamworld and do some shopping. It's a bit of a mission having to rely on public transport though! I have also enjoyed been in Aussie for the recent netball and rugby results. Hope to hear some replies from some of you.
