Preparation is well under way for the annual trek to Taupo for the North Island Cross Country Champs. The event is a club trip away where the focus is on participation and having an enjoyable weekend away with fellow club mates. For Junior Athletes we have booked a bus that will leave on Friday 2 July 2004 from the Hutt Valley Harriers Club rooms at 1:00 pm and return on Sunday 4 July 2004 around 3:30 pm. All juniors 17 & under will be staying at Taupo All Seasons Holiday Park where we have bookings in cabins and family units. Any juniors 18 to 20 have the choice of staying either at the camping grounds or at Catellis Motor Inn where the Senior Athletes will be staying. The cost this year will be $70.00, which covers meal allowances on Friday and Sunday, Transport, Accommodation, Race Entry Fees, Movie Tickets and a swim at the AC Baths on Sunday morning before trekking home. For those staying at the campsite you will need to bring a sleeping bag & pillow, warm clothing, swimming gear and towels. Parent helpers will be with the group at all times. The cost will be $40.00 per night. This group is responsible for making their own travel arrangements, however if room allows travel on the bus can be arranged.
