About Us
Hutt Valley Harriers is the largest running/walking club in the Hutt Valley, based in Petone, Lower Hutt. It is a friendly family-oriented club; a creche operates on club days and we cater for all ages from primary school up to senior citizens. Whether you like to run/walk for fun, fitness or have a competitive streak, Hutt Valley Harriers caters for all abilities. Running or walking with a group can provides numerous benefits from making new friends to gaining a few training tips to improve fitness.
The basic activity of the club is the series of club runs which are held on Saturday afternoons throughout the winter season, usually starting from Petone Cricket Clubrooms at Petone Recreation Ground at 2pm. A listing of club events on our Syllabus.
Hutt Valley Harriers prides itself on its club sprit and the fun social aspect running / walking. A number of social events are held throughout the season.

2012 Registration Day and Opening Day
The 2012 Harrier season commences on the 31st March 2012. Now’s the time to register your interest in taking part in another year of running and / or walking with Hutt Valley Harriers.

When: Saturday 31 March 2012, 1.30pm
Where: Scout Hall Udy St, Petone (next to the Petone Recreation Ground entrance. Look for the bright orange Hutt Valley Harriers flag!)
What’s happening: Registration day is a great opportunity for new members to come and find out a bit more about the club. Members will be available to help answer any questions you may have. New and returning members can register and pay subscriptions for the 2012 season. Uniforms can also be collected. A small pack run will be leaving at 2pm (Note: No shower facilities or crèche available on Registration Day).
Opening Day:
When: Saturday 7 April 2012, 1.30pm
Where: Clubrooms, Petone Recreation Ground (Udy St entrance)
What’s happening: Official club opening day for the 2012 season. After some brief introductions and a club group photo, pack runs / walk will be arranged to cater for all abilities. Approximately 3.30pm there will be a shared afternoon tea. All welcome. Shower facilities and crèche are available at the clubrooms.
Hutt Valley Harriers Membership Fees 2012
All memberships fees should be paid by 31 May 2012. Competitive members will need to have paid their membership fees before they can compete in interclub events. The first interclub event for 2012 will be 21 April, so get your subs paid in time if you want to compete!
A 10% discount on fees applies when 3 or more family members register
Social walkers/runners $50
Social membership is perfect for those that just want to enjoy their running or walking in a group environment. Social members are welcome to participate in all club runs, social events, & can compete in Hutt Valley Harrier Club Races (but not the interclub competitions and championship races that are held exclusively for athletes registered with Athletics New Zealand)
Competitive walkers/runners
Don’t be fooled by the name! The name may say competitive but the emphasis is still on having fun. Competitive members are welcome to compete in all 2012 races (including interclub events and championship races), club runs and social events. Competitive membership fees include Athletics New Zealand affiliation fees, and race entry fees for all the Wellington interclub races listed in the syllabus.

Competitive runners / walkers must have paid their subscriptions before they can represent the club in interclub competitions. All Interclub events for 2012 will be timed using the electronic “timing chips”. Upon payment of their subscriptions, new competitive members will be given an active timing chip. Returning competitive members will have their current timing chip re-activated once they have paid their subscriptions.
