The afternoon dawned quite fine and so did HVH in the Classic Relay. The A team winning the overall event
quite easily with the 250 age team winning their grade and were 3rd overall, and the 300 team also won their grade
and were 10th overall.
The conditions underfoot were a little muddy having been muddied up with the Kids Bike Jam
that proceeded the event with 900 contestants. The Upper Hutt City Council employees double booked the ground and may
not have a job if they repeat the double booking in 2009. The event was held up for 15 minutes as the throngs of kids a
nd bikes were cleared to start the relay. Now for the times which were very good considering the underfoot conditions.
